The first day of their meeting, Monday, 10 November 2025, concluded with the “Salesian goodnight” offered by the General Councillor for Missions, Fr Jorge Crisafulli, who shared several interesting insights on the occasion.
Today, the Salesian Congregation spans 92 provinces and is in 137 countries – a living testimony to the courage and faith of countless Salesian missionaries who, over generations, left their homes and families to bring the light of the Gospel to new lands. Their generosity and zeal are the roots of the vibrant Salesian presence we celebrate today.
In his Goodnight Fr Jorge Crisafulli reminded that being a missionary is not a task reserved for a few; it is at the very heart of our identity. “In our Congregation, our DNA is missionary,” he affirmed. The spirit of Don Bosco calls each Salesian to be a bearer of hope, especially where young people are most in need.
This gathering in Valdocco is more than an administrative milestone: it is a renewal of our missionary commitment. The missionary heart that inspired our predecessors must continue to inspire us today. Our future, Fr Crisafulli emphasized, depends on our missionary expansion, not merely in geography, but in spirit, creativity, and courage.
As we look ahead, we do so with gratitude for those who came before us and with determination to carry their legacy forward. The Salesian flame they passed on must continue to shine in every corner of the world: warming hearts, guiding youth, and building communities rooted in faith, joy, and service.
May this historic meeting in Valdocco rekindle that flame within each of us, so that, like Don Bosco, we may continue to dream great dreams for the young and for the mission entrusted to us – was the final sharing.
